I have really been enjoying my paper piecing of late. I have made progress with both the Mimi Quilt and the Christmas Quilt. I am waiting for my bulk order of 900 papers to arrive from Paperpieces.com. Almost running out of them. Which is a good thing....

English Paper Piecing Christmas Quilt
I was teaching a class yesterday when a lady from a neighboring town came into the store. She was talking about their quilt guild and a raffle quilt using 6 pointed diamonds (2"). She said she was working on a similar quilt using Christmas fabric. Well it got me thinking about all the Christmas fabric I have. I've been collecting it for years. I could hide under all the Christmas Fabric I own. Some is old and crunchy (before I knew about quilting quality fabric). I have decided to make a similar quilt using some strips from all those fabrics I have. The template fits onto a jelly roll strip, so I have been cutting 2.5" strips. This is what I have so far....

My Favorite Bag
Tomorrow I teach a class at the shop where I work. It is Katie Cupcake's My Favorite Bag. It is an awesome bag with six pockets inside, six pockets outside, a magnetic clasp for closing and a cute sash. Fun to make.

Almost done - just the grommets left to put in! |
You have to cut holes in your almost finished purse. |

An inside view of all the pockets and the magnetic clasp. I used Moda's Mimi and grunge fabrics too. |

Another Shop Sample Finish!
My friend Joy pieced this quilt and I had to quilt and bind it. Finally got it done. I was having an extremely difficult time trying to get a photo. Lots of cat help. I will include the picture of the cat partially on the quilt - just for laughs!

Some Knitting done.
When fall starts drawing closer, my thoughts always turn to yarn for some reason. I felt like knitting - despite the fact that it is still hot here. VERY HOT! Anyhow, I thought some tiny projects would be just the thing to scratch that itch.

Fall Candle Mat
I love Bareroots patterns. There is the cutest pattern for a pumpkin candle mat. I made it up for a shop sample and am really pleased with how it turned out. Cute!

A Quilt Ladder!
Bless my husband! He is the sweetest man. I asked him to make me a quilt ladder. Well I have been asking for one since May! This weekend he decided it was time to make one. Nevermind that it was over 100F on Saturday. There he was working away on my behalf in a sweltering garage.
Isn't it a fabulous ladder. I wanted it a bit wider so that I would not have to fold the quilt to death and also so it would display better - you can see more of it too. Dear Husband stained it in a walnut color which I really like. Now to pluck up the courage to ask him to make me another one. I think I will wait until it gets cooler. Don't want to be accused of cruelty to husbands.!!!

A Mug Rug!
I run the Swap Club which meets once every two months! Last meeting we decided to do mug rugs - with a TWIST! We had to go to Goodwill or use any mug with a design on it and then make a matching mug rug. We would swap both the mug and the mug rug. Here is my offering. I drew the snowman directly onto fusible web. The eyes, nose, mouth and arms were done thread painting style. He turned out so cute!!! The recipient was really happy!

Twister Jack is finished!
I am so thrilled to announce a FINISH! Twister Jack is now completed and ready to go to the store with me this afternoon. I'll tell you what I'm not thrilled about - the fact that he is not mine! Super cute! I may just have to make one for myself.

English Paper Piecing!
I have had some sit down time and have been working on my new English paper piecing project. It is growing steadily. I have done a ton of basting too so I am ready to construct those units. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

English Paper Piecing!
Moda released a really pretty line called Mimi, by Chez Moi! It is a really pretty floral which has a vintage feel to it. We are in the process of making a guest bedroom!!! My eldest son got married and my other three kiddo's are away at college. Now we need a guest bedroom so that those married kids can stay with us when they come to visit. Of course now I need to make a quilt for the bedroom. I am not sure what this pattern is called but it uses elongated hexagons with a square. The square in the center is surrounded by the hexagon shapes. It is not a pattern I have done before, so am really excited to try out a new one.
Here is a close view of the shapes! Simple, but effective. The Y-seam is a piece of cake with the assembly being EPP.
Not sure how big this quilt is going to be so I got two jelly rolls. The solid pink fabric is not from the line. It is a color called Tea Rose and Connecting Threads sells it.
Here is some of my progress. I think it is going to be really pretty.
This is the yardage I bought for the pillow cases. I have chosen a really pale green for the walls in the bedroom! I will start painting soon. I can't wait to see it come together.
