A Crocheted Potholder

A few days ago I saw such a cute potholder on Pinterest.  I just had to try it.  Well you need to make two pieces because it is double - good and thick so you don't get burned!!!  I love how it turned out.  Somewhat vintage!!!  It is so cute I almost can't bear to try it out on a hot pot!

Crochet Hexagon Throw

My little hexagon throw is growing somewhat!  It is a back burner project that I work on when I don't really feel like anything else.  We recently made a four hour road trip and I finished 8 hexagons along the way!  Same amount coming home!  I can't stitch in the car, but I sure can crochet!  I have a bunch more to add to the throw!  It is finally feeling like a blanket!

A Bit of This and a Bit of That

 My family and I really enjoy history!  Jan Patek published a book with a quilt pattern which uses flag blocks from the American Revolution!  Over the years my son has collected replica flags like the ones in the pattern.  I was so thrilled to find the book and decided it was begging me to make it!

 The first block is 3 Crescents of South Carolina!  I picked this one first as a nod to all three of my sons who attend college in Charleston.

 The green tree is The Pine Tree Flag.

 The second tree block is Appeal to Heaven.  General George Washington used this flag for the Continental Navy and was partly a symbol and partly a prayer.

 We had to travel to Oklahoma for my daughter's college orientation.  Here I am stitching away, sitting on the hotel bed.  Pure bliss!  No housework and no cooking.  Just stitching.

 The flag with the "76" on it is the Bennington Flag.  That was a fun, quick one to stitch.

 The last picture is of one of the connecting blocks - one of five to make.  So getting a start on those so that I don't have to make five one after the other and get bored with them.

This is a very interesting pattern to work on.  I aim to get it done by the 4th of July.  My friend Joy and I have challenged one another to get this beauty done by then.

Play a Card!

 I fell in love with the fabric line Comma!  The colors are just so pretty and the design is fairly masculine.  So I decided to make a quilt for one of my sons!

Play a Card pattern can be found in the current issue of Quilty Magazine.  It is a pattern out there which can be purchased on its own too.  

 It is a really fun pattern to put together.  I will definately make it  again.  You require two charm packs and then background yardage.

I chose a solid fabric, called carrot, to bind it in!   Glad to tick another project off my super loooong list!

A Patriotic Table Runner!

 Hello!  It's been a while since my last post, but I have been busy!  Busy with life, and busy sewing!  I have two finishes - always a good thing.  I have to apologize about the quality of the pictures but I took them the night before I had to turn in the table runner to work.

 Yes, it's a shop sample which we will be kitting up!

 I am really happy with the way it turned out.  I am going to make another one for myself.  Easy and fun to do.

English Paper Piecing Clam Shells

At the quilt store where I work, we have just started up an EPP club! I am so excited to be teaching at this club! I am going to do a small talk at the beginning of each months meeting! I am working on a few samples for those lessons! Here is the progress on my first sample - the clam shell!

A new Hexagon Project

 Morning!  You know how much I love my English Paper Piecing! Well a couple of weeks ago I found a pattern on Moda Bake Shop called Boho Honeycomb quilt.  It is a log cabin style hexagon made by machine.

 I chose my jelly rolls from the juggling summer line, and some Moda Grunges for the solid colors.

These hexagons are big, and beautiful, and maybe, just maybe, this project might get done quickly!  Who knows!!! The pattern uses setting triangles.  It is all so clear and the photo's are great!  Go and try it out!
