A Cute Halloween Quilt

I have been painting inside the house. I am currently busy with the kitchen.  After 10 days of solid painting I really needed a break.  So on Wednesday I had a sew day.  I have been building blocks from a Halloween layer cake.  I finished them up and then put the blocks together. I am really thrilled with how this turned out. The pattern is from "Block" magazine. Of course I had the inspector of works, come along to find out if I had done a decent job!!!

Here I have all the blocks laid out and ready to stitch together.

A Knitted Jersey Finish!

I started knitting this jersey last winter!  In my quest to finish some UFO's, I decided to knit in earnest and get it done!   Two weeks later and it is done!   The pattern is from a Knit Simple magazine. I am so happy I decided to finish it.  The fit is so good and it is warm because of the garter stitch pattern.  In fact I am so happy with it I have started another one!

Another Mini Quilt Completed!

As if the last quilt were not enough, made from the little off cuts from snowballing a bigger block, I have collected more triangle offcuts from another quilt in the making.  I was on a roll with those little pieces, so I decided to make the second one too and get those pesky little triangles out of the sewing room.  I have carefully been moving them around on a flannel board for way to long now trying not to make a big mess.   It did not take too long to put together at all.  The fabric is from Petal, by Aneela Hoey and a purple Moda Solid.  The border is from my stash and not sure which line it comes from.

 Here are the two little quilts side by side.  This one too has a purpose which will be revealed in the not to distant future.  Finally I have no more triangles left in the sewing room.  It feels good to have these two quilts done.

A Mini Quilt Finish!

Once upon a time there was a crazy woman who quilted.  She was making a quilt that needed to be snowballed.  She carefully trimmed the corners and studies the sad little triangles which were cut off. Now this woman was a kind soul and felt very sorry for the sad little triangles.  She decided to stitch them together.  She stitched and stitched and stitched.  Life happened and the little project got neglected.  A few years later she found it and decided to finish the sad little project.  She went looking in her stash for the perfect border and binding and in no time at all the little project of of orphaned half square triangles became a cute little quilt.  The woman looked at her project and was glad she gave the little 0.5" squares a chance to shine!  The End!!!

I have a plan for this little quilt which will hopefully be revealed in a few days time.

 Look at the beautiful leaves on this geranium.    The photo below is of the beautiful day lilies.  I have never had pink ones before.

A Finished Afghan!

Well I seem to be on a roll with getting some UFO afghans out of the way.

I started this afghan about 9 or 10 years ago when we were on vacation at the beach!  The colors reminded me of the seaside.

 I used a solid blue yarn and a variegated yarn.  I alternated four rows of each color.

I like how the stripes read.

 Done and all nicely folded.  Now off to the basement to retrieve a box with another partially made afghan in it.

An Elongated Hexagon Wall Hanging!

I seem to be on a wall hanging spree at the moment.  I started an elongated hexagon pattern out of a book entitled 101 Fabulous Small Quilts.  The method of putting them together was dot to dot.  You know I love EPP so that is the method I chose to assemble the quilt.  It all went together very well.  I chose reproduction fabrics for the quilt.

 The quilt "feels" the same as the one from the book.  Also pinks and blues.

 I quilted just within the perimeter of each hexagon.

 I did a meandering pattern in the blue border fabric.

 I put the binding on by machine.

 Look at this very happy pot plant on my deck!  It is so prolific with its flowering.  I thought it was a Black Eye Susan!  Somebody told me it was not.

 I'm not entirely trusting their info.

 I have completed another Value Proposition block and also one crocheted block for my afghan.

Moda Candy Wall Hanging Finish!

I love making wall hangings!  It's one of my favorite things to do.  I purchased both of the Moda Candy pattern booklets when they came out, and I have made a few things out of them.  I really enjoy a quick make and finish in amongst all those large projects.   I have a collection of the Moda mini charms in a glass vase.  If there is a collection of fabric I like, I buy two and throw them in the vase.  When I feel like a mini I have a bunch of 2.5" squares to use.   I really enjoyed making this one.  It is bright and fresh for summer.

I quilted pebbles in all the negative space.  

 I have also completed another Value Proposition Quilt block with the first round of pathway!  Getting close to the end of making the blocks now.  I can't wait to attach them into a quilt.
