A Needle Case for a Friend!

My friend and I decided to make each other a needle case!!!  Just for fun you know!!
I subscribe to Primitive Gatherings and they had the cutest three needle cases in the latest issue.
Fun to make from wool felt.  The interior has a pocket for your scissors, a pocket for marking pencils or floss as well as place for your needles and pins.
My friend loves her needle case!  My daughter likes it too, so I am making her one.  Will post pics when I am finished it.
Thank you for stopping by.  Have a great day!

As American As Apple Pie?

Oh, the halcyon days of summer!!!!  When ones thoughts turn to swimming, lazy hours at the pool, BBQ's, and summer foods.  The kids talked me into making candied apples for them.  They look good don't they!
All I pray is that there will be no visit to the dentist as a result!!!  Happy eating kids, but be careful!

A Few Finishes!

I am so happy to report a few finishes after my post admitting how many UFO's I have.  I have been plugging away at projects and now have five crossed off my list.  The top table runner had to be quilted.  I made it as a class sample a few months ago and just needed to quilt it.  I am very happy with how it turned out.  Gotta put it one the table now and enjoy it.
The gingerbread men/ ladies is table runner which I made two years ago.  It was also just waiting to be quilted.  It was a fun little project to make.  I used my cookie cutters to trace out the shape of the gingerbread folk.  So, it is ready for Christmas.
I feel so much better because things are moving off that daunting list.  I can't show you the fifth finish yet as it is a gift for my friend.  I am happy to say that working on projects off our list is working well for her too.  She also has five finishes.  So, grab a friend and commit to holding one another accountable for finishes.  It is fun, as well as motivating.

A Terrible Thing To Admit!!!

I am proud to have FINISHED two items recently.  I started the scarf in December and finally knitted the last few rows and finished it.  The coasters were made using some leftover Kaffe selvedges.  Turned out rather cute if I say so myself.  I am tired of the water glasses making a mess on the table.  Problem solved.
OK!!!  Here is the terrible thing to admit!.  My friend and I made yet another trip to the quilt store and bought all sorts of goodies.  I tell you, we were feeling rather bad!!!!  So we made a pact to buy no more fabric other than what  is needed to complete projects in progress until - wait for it - FALL!!!!  I don't know how we will make it.  Then we decided to make a list of all our unfinished sewing items.  This is where it gets to be bad.  My list has 40, yes 40 UFO's on it.  So officially I appear to be the Queen of starting projects.  My problem is that cute things appear before me before I can finish the things I am busy with.  My friend has 30 things on her list.  Well we are putting in a dedicated effort this summer to cross items off our list.  The above two photo's are two of those items.  I know they are small but they were so close to being completed.  A journey starts with one step!!!!  I will be showing my progress so you can all hold me accountable.
Till next time, take care and thank you for stopping by!

Itty Bitty Hearts

I am teaching a couple of classes at my favorite local quilt store again.  This is the store sample I made up using Cindi Edgerton's Itty Bitty Hearts pattern.  It is a Foundation Paper Piecing pattern.  This is the technique I will be teaching - a skill building class!  I love FPP!!!  It is really worth mastering this skill as it opens up a whole new world in piecing.  It really is easier than you think too.
I love how the solid color hearts turned out to be so bright and cheerful.
Hope you are all having a bright and cheerful day.

A Mug Rug

Hello!  I signed up for a mug rug swap!!!  I had so many ideas traveling around in my head.  It is funny though that when it comes to crunch time (procrastination definitely over) I ended up doing something totally different.
I liked the idea of a coffee mug and tea cup! Then the "I like coffee" song came to mind and I thought it presented itself for some embroidery ideas.
Here is the finished mug rug!  The swap is tonight.  I'm excited!!!  I wonder whose wonderful mug rug I will get?

Building Continues!

L
The building of tiny houses is still going strong.  It is such a fun project to do.  Now that I am collecting quiet a few of them, I can see that the quilt is going to be so very pretty.  It is going to be so colorful and bright.  I am done the center panel of the quilt except for the central large house.  The big house is stressing me out a tad!  Not sure what fabrics to use!!!  I need to get it done so that I can work on completing that middle section.
I had to print out more Foundation Papers!!!  Always a good thing as well as a sign of progress.
Lastly, let me leave you with a picture of a Texas Sunset!!!  We get to enjoy such pretty ones every now and then.  This one was so pink (or salmon), with blues and several shades of gray.
Thank you for stopping by and hoping you are having a good day.
