A Bit of This and That!

I have finished a couple of things recently.  I wanted to get this tiny patriotic quilt finished for my son for Christmas.  It is all OK though because he and his wife are moving and will be coming to stay with us for a couple of weeks in-between places.  Their new house will have a dedicated study and I can present this to him for his study when I see him.
It is from a Quilt of Valor magazine and the piece is Foundation Paper Pieced.  The finished flag is 4 x 6 I believe.  I used some patriotic paper in the frame and placed the flag on top of it.  I think it looks grand.
Now I can't tell you in words just how happy I am to have this afghan done.  I have been working on it for four years (maybe more) on and off (maybe more off than on).
It is a single crochet stitch done in the back loop only.  The result is a slow growing, dense texture and it sure is lovely and warm.
The colors are fairly fall-ish and I am not sure if this one will only come out in the fall or be out all winter long.
My Millefiori quilt is progressing well.  I have finished the second round and am working on the third round.  Most of the cutting out and basting has been done and I am stitching the elements together before adding them to the rosette.
Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting.  Have a wonderful day.

Katja Marek's Millefiore Quilt Along!

A good friend of mine told me about the Millefiore quilt along in December and asked me if I was doing it.  Nooooooo, said I because of all my UFO's and the fact that I have the 52 Hexagon book and am busy on a project from the book.  But then I saw the Rosette and I was a goner!  So I signed up and have been working on the first Rosette.  Here is the center and round one done.
I am basically sticking to the original colors of Katja's rosette and pulling fabrics from my stash.
This is one of the fussy cut hexagons for round two.
Laid out with the two different hexagons for round two.

Getting a little further along.  I have made more of the hexagons and need to sew them to the main rosette.  I am having so much fun with this millefiore sew along.  It's going to be a beauty when done.

An Afghan Completed and Gifted!

I had started this afghan over two years ago.  In my endeavor to shorten my UFO list, I completed the project.
I gifted it to my son and daughter-in-law for Christmas.  They had chosen ocean colors primarily.  I threw a few greens into the mix as a nod to college colors.
It turned out really well and they like it.
It is a bit of a behemoth!  It became quite unwieldy to work on at the end of the project.  I'm glad that it is ticked off the list and done.
