I have finished a couple of things recently. I wanted to get this tiny patriotic quilt finished for my son for Christmas. It is all OK though because he and his wife are moving and will be coming to stay with us for a couple of weeks in-between places. Their new house will have a dedicated study and I can present this to him for his study when I see him.
It is from a Quilt of Valor magazine and the piece is Foundation Paper Pieced. The finished flag is 4 x 6 I believe. I used some patriotic paper in the frame and placed the flag on top of it. I think it looks grand. Now I can't tell you in words just how happy I am to have this afghan done. I have been working on it for four years (maybe more) on and off (maybe more off than on).
It is a single crochet stitch done in the back loop only. The result is a slow growing, dense texture and it sure is lovely and warm.
The colors are fairly fall-ish and I am not sure if this one will only come out in the fall or be out all winter long.
My Millefiori quilt is progressing well. I have finished the second round and am working on the third round. Most of the cutting out and basting has been done and I am stitching the elements together before adding them to the rosette.
Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting. Have a wonderful day.
Beautiful work, love the flag, this is so precious.
ReplyDeleteI can see the work in the Afghan, but the colors are so beautiful.
Millfiory will come out as a great project as well.
Greetings,
Sylvia

ReplyDeletewhat a nice modern throw - looks warm and cozy
all wonderful! I know your son will love that awesome flag mini. The afghan is so rich and beautiful! And you know I love your Millefiori... wish I had time to get in on that one!
ReplyDeleteYour patriotic quilt is so tiny and the way you have framed it is very effective. I'm sure your son will be very pleased with it! When I saw your crochet coverlet I thought it was a quilt with straight line quilting. It looks so cozy and I love the colours. I'm at about the same point as you with my Millefiori quilt. I'll be glad when this big block is done and am looking forward to the next block.
ReplyDeleteLove the little bit of yellow in your rosette! Great idea to frame the mini quilt over patriotic paper. Love the afghan too - great colors and if it's that dense I would use it all winter long to snuggle under!
ReplyDeleteI am IN LOVE with the mini Flag pattern!! Where can I find it???
ReplyDeleteI loved the way you have framed the little patriotic quilt.
