Christmas Stitcheries!!!

Here is another sample that I made for the store!!!  It is so very cute.
The small tree ornaments are real quick and easy to piece together!!!  Cute to hang on your tree or to give away, or to hang on a package!!
It's never to early to get a start on your Christmas sewing - it frees up Christmas to spend with family and friends!

I hope you are having a good start to the week and thank you for stopping by.

A Finish as Promised

A few blogs ago I mentioned that I had to save blogging about a shop sample I stitched because the ladies at our Market Review were to be the first to see it!!  Market Review happened this afternoon and much fun was had by all.
The pattern is called Pinwheel Parade and it was so much fun to make.  It looks harder and more complicated than it really is.  It is not a stack n whack.  You use Jelly Roll Strips and then turn your sections!!  The pattern can be ordered online at www.thequiltasylum.com.  We even ship internationally.  Check us out!!!

This quilt was made with 30's reproduction fabrics.  You certainly could use other fabrics for your project.  The pattern comes in sizes crib through king!!  This one was so much fun to make.  It is awesome to piece the blocks and wait for the pattern to emerge.  I had a hard time picking a favorite!!
I did a stitchery sample too.  I will reveal that tomorrow.
Have a great evening and thank you for stopping by.

A Few Chickens!!!

The new McCall's magazine, America Quilts for the Home, has the cutest pattern in it, entitled Big Boy!!!  I love chickens, so I decided to make the quilt!
It is going to be a wall hanging so I am using fusible web on the pieces to be appliqued.  I don't mind the stiffness when it is a wall hanging.  I am going to blanket stitch the pieces onto the background fabric, using my machine.
The pattern has the best instructions for the "window" blocks.  It is the first time I have made a block like this and it was so easy with the clear instructions.
Aren't the hens a hoot?  Big Boy is very cute himself!!!  I go to work tomorrow so Big Boy will be on the back burner for a couple of days again!!!  I can't wait to get this quilt up on the wall.  It is just so cheerful looking.

The Best Purchase I've Made In Ages!!!

As promised, here it is!!!!  I have reached an age where one wishes you could grow a couple more inches to your arms, so that you can focus on your handwork!!!  The light in my kitchen, where I do much of my sewing, is really bad.  I have been threatening to buy an OttLite for a long time.  As far as lamps go, they are pretty pricey.  I finally got so tired of battling to see and using "reading glasses".  Yesterday I bought an OttLite lamp which I can move around from room to room with me.   I have one word to describe this lamp - F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C!!!!
It is sooooooooooo bright!  The color's are true and there is no eye-strain!  Why did it take me this long to buy one?  Worth every penny!  If you need a good lamp to sew by, I would highly recommend the OttLite brand of lamps.  I do not work for OttLite and receive nothing from them for this recommendation.  It is just a stitchers honest opinion!!! Oh, it say's on the box the globe lasts for up to 10 000 hours!!!  Now that equates to a lot of bright hours of stitching!!!

Something Beautiful

Good Morning Fabulous People!!!  I was driving off to work a few mornings ago when I spotted my dear neighbor's garden looking particularly lovely!!!  She has a bush out front which is filled with these spectacular LARGE blooms.  I went around the next morning with my camera to get a photo.  Isn't this bloom just divine?  Unfortunately she had sprinkled some powder on the leaves, so I only came away with one photo, but wanted to show you the beauty of this flower!
I am going to post another post today, because I bought myself something yesterday which is absolutely blogworthy!!!  Talk to you soon!!!

English Paper Piecing Progress

Good Morning!!!  Today is my day off from the quilt store.  Handling fabric all day in the store makes me so eager to get back home and do some piecing.  I have been working on the grandmother's diamonds, albeit s-l-o-w-l-y!!  Progress is slow but it is progress nevertheless!  I made a quilt last week for the shop's Market Review Party later this month.  Once that event is over, I will post the pictures of the quilt.  It was a fun one to make.
I have a full house at the moment.  All the kiddo's are on holiday for the summer.  It is really great having them around.  Of course the cooking and cleaning has risen exponentially.  Hence less time to sew.  That is OK though!  Come Fall, I will be sitting all by myself with plenty of time to stitch.  I will make hay while the sun shines and just enjoy the kid's being around.  They truly are my husband's and my hearts delights!!
I hope you are having a good Friday and I wish you a lovely weekend!!!
