POTC Blocks and a Custom Quilting Job!

I have been having so much fun with the POTC blocks again.  I guess if a project languishes in a box for long enough, it becomes new again when revisited.

I did start making a second POTC project using more modern fabrics.

This has to be one of my favorites.  Careful fussy cutting takes almost as long to do as stitching the block together.  The colors in this one just pop.

Reproduction fabrics for this one.

I have finally basted a top together with its backing and batting and have started quilting it.  This project will take a few weeks as I am custom quilting the large negative spaces.  I also have to mark the block with a ruler to get the spacings right for the different "rows" of quilting.  I am really enjoying this project.  I get about three blocks done per day.  It is a good project for listening to Audiobooks.

TGIF!  I wish you a wonderful weekend and thank you for visiting my blog.

Tiny Dresdens

I signed up for this cute BOM program at what used to be my local quilt store.   I started making this one just before Christmas and then things got busy and it just lay on the sewing table.  A few days ago I was bound and determined to find the bottom of my sewing table and came across this project.  I thought it was ridiculous that it was just laying there, so I picked it up and finished it.  I was so thrilled with the outcome I thought I would do "April" and at least have the correct month hanging up for a while.

Here it is on the wire frame.  It is such a cute little hanging.  The umbrella is a half a dresden plate.

Well that was fun and quick.  I thought I would then start "May" since I am going to be doing a bit of traveling during May for graduations and to meet my first grand baby.  So BAM, May is done.  I have actually started working on June too.  These cute little hangings measure 6 x 8 inches.

It is so much fun to tackle small projects among all the big quilts and slow stitching paper piecing.

I wish you a happy day and thank you for stopping by to visit my blog.

POTC Blocks and a Tulip!

I really am enjoying making these POTC blocks again.  I love the fussy cutting process.

In fact, I am loving them so much that I decided to start a Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses quilt for myself using more modern fabrics (i.e. no reproductions)

Such lovely gentle colors in this block.

Alewivesfabrics.com has a new kit every Sunday which included 4 fat quarters and 100 1" honeycombs.  I bought two of the kits on Friday and this super cute package arrived yesterday.  They are in Maine - my next door neighbors!  I am so happy I found them as they have great fabrics and their customer service is really good.

I made this tulip block and decided to make it into a Spring Wall Hanging.

I did big stitch quilting and French Knots on the tulip.  The rest I machine quilted.  It was fun to make and I like the spring-like colors!  If only Spring would find us!

That's it from me for today.  I am headed on up to the sewing room as it is rainy and gray today.

Have a good day.

This and That!

I have been doing a bunch of sewing and finishing little to show.  I did however make a pincushion which is so very cute.  You know when you see something and just have to drop everything else you are working on to make it?  Well that happened with this cute little guy.  The pattern is available at whileshenaps.com.  Thank you for the lovely pattern!  It was so much fun to make.  The shell is English Paper Pieced.

Look at his cute little tail!

A fussy cut bird to keep him company!  All the fabrics came from my scrap stash.  I am truly not sure how I am going to be able to stick pins into him.  Such a fun afternoon make.

An old project becomes new again.  I have not touched my POTC project in more than two years.  I took it out the other day to look at the blocks that I have completed and got inspired to work on it again.  So I made this block!

And this one....

Yesterday was the 1st of April and this happened in New Hampshire.  It snowed the whole Friday and Saturday.  Yesterday afternoon the hubster and I had to do ALOT of shoveling.

After all that work I felt like pancakes drowned in Maple Syrup made up the road from where we live.  So good with fresh strawberries and a bit of cream.  Sure hit the spot.

I hope you are getting some stitching done.
Thank you for visiting.
