Hexa go-go

My friend and I make many of the same patterns and work on our own versions of a quilt at the same time.  It is so much fun to do it that way.  We had both bought Hexa Go-Go when it came out.  We have both had our eye on the Cat Tails pattern and she is making the quilt for her college bound daughter.
Not to be outdone, I jumped onto the band wagon too.  You see, this pattern has two of my favorite things in the quilting world - Hexagons and string piecing!
I sat down and traced out all 138 papers for the rosettes and then started building the rosette stacks.  I peg each flower together with a wooden peg.  Keeps things organized and for some reason I just like pegs (clothes pins)
Here are two of them done already.  I need to buy some yardage for the white and black bits and then I will start string piecing.  Heaven knows I have so many strings.  I will keep you posted as to the progress.

  1. Great idea to use those pegs like that - I have the odd plastic one I use but how cool to have nice wooden ones all for your sewing!! It's a very cool quilt - it sure looks like you will have fun with it!!
