Hexies and Allietare!

Hello sweet people.  I have had some time to sew over the past couple of days.  I have been working like a fiend building units for Allietare, Bonnie Hunters mystery quilt for 2015.  It has been a fun one to work on but SO MANY PIECES!  I have made all the units now and am stitching the blocks together.  I really like how it is turning out.

I have also made my third hexie for Quilts on the Go - Katja Marek's Sew Along from her book, The New Hexagon.  I am in love with making these.  I have not done the big stitching in the sashing yet as I am trying to decide which thread to use.  But these are really addictive to make.

Here are the first seven blocks of Allietare laid out with the corner and setting triangles.  The neutral bits poking out will be trimmed off once the quilt is stitched together.  I will probably play with the placement a bit more once all the blocks are done.  I just could not wait to see what it would look like.   It is rainy and dreary here today - a perfect sewing room day.  I hope you got a chance to sew!

  3. Grey and drizzly here. Finished the red blocks this morning, this afternoon I'll be powering through the grey ones. Thinking about a straight set rather than on point, and did brown strings for the red blocks, and grey strings for the grey blocks. Loving it. Thanks for sharing yours.
