POTC Blocks and a Tulip!

I really am enjoying making these POTC blocks again.  I love the fussy cutting process.

In fact, I am loving them so much that I decided to start a Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses quilt for myself using more modern fabrics (i.e. no reproductions)

Such lovely gentle colors in this block.

Alewivesfabrics.com has a new kit every Sunday which included 4 fat quarters and 100 1" honeycombs.  I bought two of the kits on Friday and this super cute package arrived yesterday.  They are in Maine - my next door neighbors!  I am so happy I found them as they have great fabrics and their customer service is really good.

I made this tulip block and decided to make it into a Spring Wall Hanging.

I did big stitch quilting and French Knots on the tulip.  The rest I machine quilted.  It was fun to make and I like the spring-like colors!  If only Spring would find us!

That's it from me for today.  I am headed on up to the sewing room as it is rainy and gray today.

Have a good day.

Love
Chantal

  1. I like your modern version of the POTC block. The stitching on your spring tulip is delightful and adds so much interest and texture.

  2. Your tulip is so pretty (and in my fav color!!) with the big stitching. It also reminds me of the purple crocuses that are coming up in my yard. Your Friday POTC kits sound like a lot of fun. I might have to join in someday. Can't wait to see what is in your packages. My POTC uses one red paisley fabric to fussy cut for each block and then I add in anything else that matches...someday I might do a random color one as well since I like scrappy quilts. Your blocks are very pretty.
