Valentine Table Runner

 I wanted to make myself a Valentine Table Runner and thought I would try making my own pattern!  I purchased a charm pack of really sweet valentines fabric.  Made a few sketches and cut out my fabrics.

Here are all the elements put together.

 I free motion quilted on my home machine.  I decided to quilt random hearts over the charm squares.

 I shadow quilted the appliqué sections on the ends.

All done and on my table!  I will work on a pattern for a St Patrick's day table runner next.  I am partially Irish and my birthday is on the 17th of March.  Good enough reason to celebrate the day!!!

A Design Wall

I have never had a design wall!  The floor has been my design wall!  Well, I had seen a few makeshift walls on Blogland that one could take down when your project was done.  I thought this would be a good idea.  I bought a flannel set of sheets for a steal from Target.  Spoke to Dear Husband and he said he would put it up for me on the passage wall adjacent to my sewing space upstairs.  He went to Ikea and came back with a mounting mechanism for blind panels.  Being the smart man he is, he did some modifying and next thing you know, my design wall was hanging!  Not as semi-permanent as I had in mind, but not intrusive at all.  Thank you sweet man!  I don't know how I have managed without one for all these years.  I love, love, love it.  Sorry about the bad photo's!  It was night time and I used my phone camera for the pictures.  Next blog I will show you the very lovely cutting table he made for me!  

Chevron Quilt from Layer Cake

Hello folks!  I am sharing a tutorial on how to make a chevron quilt using a layer cake and three and a half yards of backing fabric.  Cut your backing fabric into as many 10" squares as the number of layer cake squares you will be using!  I used the entire layer cake for this project.   Place them one layer cake square and one backing square right sides together.  Pin them at the corners and stitch around the entire perimeter of the square with a 1/4" seam allowance.

 Once you have done this, cut your squares across both diagonals.  Iron open.  This gives you a half square triangle.

 Lay your blocks into a pleasing chevron design and stitch the blocks into rows and then the rows into a completed quilt.  Enjoy!

This is a big quilt.  Spot the kitty at the bottom of the completed quilt to give you an idea of how big it is.

A Super Cute Hexie Project!

My sweet new project from this, one of my favorite magazines!

 The instructions for this project are given to accommodate different size hexagons!  I have chosen to do 3/8th hexies!  I love tiny, but I really don't like doing the 1/4 inch ones.  That is just tooooo tiny!!!  Anyhow, I am making progress with this cute little project.  I am wondering if I should frame it or bind it!  Hmmm, I shall see what it tells me to do closer the end of the project.

Last of the Cat Quilts for a While!

 Hi folks!  Here is my third and last (so far) vegetable cat!  He is pepper puss!

 He reminds me of one of my cats.  Quiet fluffy, and fun!

 Here he is all quilted.

Stalker Cat

Hello!  The cat saga continues with Mr Stalker!  I am trying to reshuffle the photos on this post and find I am having marginal success.  However I did get the cut out pieces to appear as the first picture, albeit next to the second photo.

 Here is Mr Stalker appliqued to the background fabric and the borders stitched on too.

The pattern comes with a recipe - a delicious cream of Chicken and Winter Vegetable Soup.

Here is the completed quilt.  He is such an angular cat that I thought quilting with stars, which are quiet angular themselves, would be appropriate.  I love how these cats turned out.  I want to make a larger quilt with four cats put together in a bigger quilt for my kitchen.  Appropriate for the kitchen as they are vegetables.

Banana Cat

I have been working on some shop samples! Helen Knott has a series of garden patch cat patterns! This one is Banana Cat! He is so delightfully cute! Next on my list is Pepper Puss!

Sorry about the blurry photo.  You can see from the cover of the pattern that it includes a recipe.  Now that is double the value for your money.

I have used some Moda grunge fabric, which is awesome.
